Overlooking the River Arno, the Royal Victoria Hotel is housed in a late 19th-century palazzo, which has been owned by the Piega family since 1837. Over the years it has played host to such luminaries as Charles Dickens and Charles Lindbergh. The 48 guestrooms are decorated in a traditional Tuscan style with antique furnishings and, in many cases, frescoed ceilings. They are several rooms with common doors that can be turned into family suites for four (with two separate bathrooms). Some rooms do not contain bathrooms and instead offer shared bathrooms on each floor. The small, plant-filled terrace on the fourth floor is the ideal place to sunbathe or take drinks. The hotel also offers a Continental style buffet every morning in its welcoming breakfast room.
